In sports, the optimal strategy is to be balanced, on your toes, so you don’t get caught leaning one way, I believe it’s same in life where you want to be able to follow the evidence where it leads on any issue.
But in a world full of conspiracy theorists, and on the opposite pole, loud bleating sheep, it’s hard being stuck in the middle.
Take the vaccine.
I am not an anti-vaxxer, but because I likely had Covid over a year ago when I could not smell or taste anything for a night after 3 days of sniffles, I’m not sure I want or need the vaccine and as I am aware there are risks to it.
My wife on the other hand is “vaccine hesitant” to put it mildly, and I made the mistake of telling her I was considering getting it for travel purposes.
“You selfish idiot. You moron. You want to take the kill shot? What about your children?” and on and on and on …
My reaction, as any sane person to her treatment was, “Fine, I won’t take the vaccine, and I hope I get Covid and die from it now.”
Perfectly sane, perfectly rational, right.
So, I’m recovering from this incident, I’m talking with my lefty friend asks me if I’m vaccinated.
“No man, I’m pretty sure I already had it.
“Herd immunity .. You selfish Trumpanzee idiot. Won’t someone please think of the children!”
Oh really, you want to play that. Now, I’m glad I didn’t get the vax, and I hope it kills every single one of you arrogant control freak leftists that want to deny individual freedom.
Perfectly sane, perfectly rational reaction.
I tell you, it’s hard being a balanced, fair minded stuck in the middle.
