New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani showed up to a candlelight vigil marking the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attacks and immediately got mobbed by pro-Palestinian protesters. The same crowd that marched from City Hall crashed an Israelis for Peace event in Union Square, chanting “traitor,” “you coward,” “Zohran you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide,” and waving Hamas and Hezbollah flags.
Even after years of criticizing Israel, Mamdani was treated as the enemy for simply standing with a candle next to Brad Lander. Police held the line while the vigil turned chaotic.
