I have no clue how single mothers do it; to be able to raise a healthy, well-adjusted, productive child.
I have known some single moms in my life, and the job is profoundly difficult.

Imagine having to work for eight hours, plus the commute, just to put food on the table, then coming home to help your child with their homework, encourage them, hear about their day, and make them a meal. By the time you put your child to bed, and deal with your bills and make a phone call to a friend, you have absolutely zero time left over for yourself before you have to go to bed and repeat the same process.

My God, it’s difficult enough with two parents. We have a two-year-old, and after an exhausting solo day spent running around, entertaining, feeding, bathing, and putting him to bed, it’s now almost 11 PM, and I’ve have to stay up doing other mundane tasks for the at least one more hour before retiring for the evening.
Repeating this on a daily basis would drive me insane.

And the truth is, that unfortunately the biggest predictor of child truancy are single parent households. The kids who get less attention than needed will seek it elsewhere, sometimes that might be from a good hearted soul from the Big Brother program, and other times that source might be the local gang which uses the child to push nefarious substances, starting him down the road of criminality.

A two parent household offers the child significant advantages, ranging all the way from the ying and yang of male and female energies, to two eyes on the child to ensure that they are less likely to hurt themselves, to a dual income, to providing each other with the occasional moment of free time and sanity.
Personally, I think it’s a modern day miracle that a single mother is able to raise a wonderful child, and my heart is absolutely off to her. (it’s almost always her, as father’s leave more than moms do. After all, they didn’t carry the child for 9 months, then birth it, and have oxytocin running through their system that bonds mother and child.)

So, if you’re a single Mom out there, who has raised amazing kids, you are my hero. I mean that.
I don’t know why it is considered a conservative talking point to state the two parent families yield superior results to single parent households. by the very nature of the monetary, time, and resources of sanity, more is invested into the child.

And for those of you considering having kids, make sure you are 100% ready for it. Both you and your children will be far far better off delaying having when you are mentally, spiritually, and financially ready for it.
