When you Realize Life Doesn’t Matter, it’s Easy to Drop the Fear

I’m not suggesting that you cast fear aside and jump into a pool of crocodiles, as there’s no real upside there, and the downside, might be considered severe. What I am saying is go ahead and try something bold.

Life is not all that big a deal.

Just think about the billions of people who have lived out their lives on our planet, and like us, believed their lives so incredibly important. How many of their names are remembered? And to put it into context, how many times do you think per month of your deceased grandparents?

But when you take a look at it a universal level, it puts into even larger perspective.

We, as individuals aren’t even a grain of sand on a beach of the sea of humanity, much less our Beautiful planet. And the earth might be a grain of sand in the space of our solar system, which doesn’t even amount to that in context of our galaxy, which extrapolating out even further, is literal zero in comparison to the vast universe that astronomers have described to us.

What meaning does life really have? How can any of this mean anything? I don’t ask that in a nihilistic sense, I ask that in an effort to free us from the constraints of our ego, and our fears.

If nothing really means anything, then failure is irrelevant. Do you think about all those moments in your life that something didn’t turn out as you wanted? You generally have to work pretty hard to remember, at least in part because we are worried about our immediate survival, or some “big important” event taking place right now, like the waiter being slow bringing your order, or what appears to be a new nick in the side of your car.

But none of that really matters, you’re not going to remember even a week from now the slow waiter.

In life you won’t remember the times you swing the bat and miss, but you might remember the times that you a homerun.

What we leave behind in our wake in life, are not the failures, but what we created, the times we actually hit the ball. i.e. starting a business which gives people a livelihood, where we meet the love of our life because were brave enough to go up to them and speak, where we tried something new and found a passion worth pursuing. Whatever that is for you, your fear only inhibits you from finding river of meaning and fulfillment in life. So drop it, let it go.

I’m not suggesting that you cast fear aside and jump into a pool of crocodiles, as there’s no real upside there, and the downside, might be considered severe. What I am saying is go ahead and try something bold. Whatever that is for you, try to do something new today, right now, whatever that might be.

The odds are much more likely that when you’re on your deathbed you’ll regret not taking the risk, not taking the shot, not swinging the bat, than you will regret whatever failure you might endure from taking action.

So whatever that goal that you have, whatever desire that you have, just take that first step, do it now. Whether you succeed or fail, life’s not that big of a deal, so just remember that you’re a successful every time that you go out with any sort of plan, and push your limits.
