EDUCATED ≠ COMMON SENSE
I want to show you how the “educated” debate. Today watching the Super Bowl at a sports bar, on my computer with two AirPods in, phone in hand, an older man with a thick accent from Europe insisted on having a conversation with me, even though after every interchange I kept putting my AirPods back in and looking at my laptop screen. I felt myself getting annoyed when he turned the conversation to politics in America, as he saw me scrolling through my YouTube feed, this was the third time I performed the internationally recognized “please stop talking” AirPod ritual, which frankly is a pretty decent sign I didn’t want to talk, and I wanted to end the discussion and told him whatever problems we have in America at least we haven’t allowed Islamists to take us over.
Admittedly, this was not a good-faith utterance from me.

Nevertheless, his first statement was one of denial, and then rather than deal with my argument and the veracity of it, “Have you ever been to Europe,” in a preening superior manner. “Yes, many times.”

Long, skeptical European “hmmm.” Classic credential-check incoming…

“But you’ve never lived in Europe.”
“Actually, yes I did, in the Czech Republic.”
What he’s doing is elevating himself to a position of authority and trying to undermine my argument because I have no right to speak on the topic. Look, sometimes that might be the case, but look at all the so-called experts that got everything wrong during Covid that shut up, that said you have no right to speak because you don’t have the degree. Look at the immense damage they did by shutting down common sense. But it is the preening superiority that I am dealing with. |
“Yeah, I remember going to the top of Petřín Hill in Prague years ago and running into a bunch of beekeepers. Never in the 6 years that I was going on and off there did I see that before.”
“You’re wrong. Have you been to Denmark?”
“Yes”
“Norway?”
“Been there”
“Sweden.”
“Yes.”
“I’m from Sweden.”
“Case in point, you let in so many Muslims that don’t want to assimilate, you have no-go zones.”
“No we don’t.”
“You don’t have no-go zones in Malmö?”
After denying it, he admits that Sweden made some mistakes, but they are a very educated people. And here is the point, education does not mean smart, it does not mean common sense. You can quote Shakespeare, solve differential equations, hold a PhD in quantum chromodynamics… and still fry yourself like an idiot by sticking your finger in a live socket.

You can recite beautiful Shakespeare prose, discuss the Pythagorean Theorem, and have a PhD in physics, but if you stick your finger into a light socket and complete a circuit, your education is worthless and you are a stupid person.
You can be as educated as you want, and claim your superiority, but when you incentivize people to come to your country, paying out generous social welfare benefits for them, and they never wanted to integrate into your society to begin with, and they want to not only be left alone, but when they reach sufficient numbers, they want to impose their way of life on you, you might have a million pieces of paper describing your learnedness, but you’re stupid, and no amount of education is going to get you out of the socket you stuck your finger in.
Yet you’ll sneer at the uncredentialed peasants who merely state the obvious… like keeping kids away from school is a bad idea, or how you say my body my choice when it comes to a child living inside you, but then insist on people taking a non-working vaccine, demanding it, or being mystified when you import massive numbers of people from countries with 99% negative views of Jews and anti-Semitism rises within your borders and attacks begin. These people sneer at you, look down on you from their imaginary pulpit called being “educated” arguing from a position of authority, and want to tell you how to live your lives and that you must trust your intellectual superiors when nothing they do works. They sit in their ivory towers lecturing the rest of us on how the world works… while cheerfully sticking their fingers straight into the socket and wondering why the whole building is now on fire.
